Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Borrego Springs's Barry Villalobos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Borrego Springs from getting a goal against them. In the 12th minute, Alan Grady fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Barry Villalobos, passed just outside the right post. Borrego Springs's Barry Villalobos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Grady in the 18th minute of play. In the last second Barry Villalobos throw himself and got hold of the ball when Alan Grady in the 37thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After 37 minutes, Derick Blanco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borrego Springs and the Kids of Energy players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Kids of Energy booed when Borrego Springs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derick Blanco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute, Rodolfo Naylor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bryant Haywood was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

If Matt Herrera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Kids of Energy's Steven Pagan got a free kick in the 54th minute. Alan Grady might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Barry Villalobos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
