After 5 played minutes, Burney's Morgan Metzger shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rod Lentz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Burney reached it. A collision led to Burney getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Sergio Altman hit a great ball. 16 minutes into the match, Burney's goal looked a bit too open when Adrián Angelini came free, but Dante Grubb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ned Herman in the 20th minute of play forced Galatasaray FC's goalkeeper Rod Lentz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ned Herman took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rod Lentz. Rod Lentz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Galatasaray FC's Rod Lentz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ned Herman in the 25th minute of play. Antony Bentley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thaddeus Howard in the 31st minute of play forced Galatasaray FC's goalkeeper Rod Lentz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. James Reilly struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Rod Lentz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burney. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antony Bentley to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Galatasaray FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thaddeus Howard came free, but Rod Lentz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rod Lentz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thaddeus Howard in the 58th minute of play. Rod Lentz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thaddeus Howard in the 59th minute of the match. In the 61st minute Eldon Sweet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Grubb saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Galatasaray FC booed when Burney was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bill Davidson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 68 minutes, Rod Lentz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Eldon Sweet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Galatasaray FC's Rod Lentz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Galatasaray FC from getting a goal against them. Adrián Angelini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Dante Grubb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eldon Sweet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, Burney's goal looked a bit too open when Antony Bentley came free, but Dante Grubb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th match minute, Burney was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Davidson to maneuver through the defense. Eldon Sweet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rod Lentz came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Burney's Devin Leslie. But to his dismay, Devin Leslie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2.
