In the 4th minute of the match, Dan Bearden tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Benjamin Stratton saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 7 minutes into the match, Phoenix AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Bearden came free, but Benjamin Stratton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grady Hughes scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vincenzo Ward, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vincenzo Ward showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Truman Harrison in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Truman Harrison got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Truman Harrison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vincenzo Ward having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Phoenix AFC's goalkeeper Benjamin Stratton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chad Washington. Vincenzo Ward made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Truman Harrison in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute Dan Bearden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Stratton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Truman Harrison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Grady Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vincenzo Ward having to interfere. Madawaska's Vincenzo Ward played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grady Hughes in the 58th minute of play. Salvatore Collier charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Salvatore Collier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 59 played minutes Madawaska got a freekick which was hit by Salvatore Collier. After recieving a nice pass, Phoenix AFC's Whitney Manley tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Madawaska's Vincenzo Ward played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grady Hughes in the 61st minute of play. If Eliseo Weaver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vincenzo Ward took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Grady Hughes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the game, Dan Bearden cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Benjamin Stratton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Chad Washington managed to get in a good position for a shot. Madawaska's supporters rose to their feet, but Chad Washington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamin Stratton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Emerson Karros fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Madawaska's protests and gave Emerson Karros a yellow card for diving instead. In the 77th match minute, Madawaska was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Karros to maneuver through the defense. Salvatore Collier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Benjamin Stratton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Grady Hughes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Phoenix AFC's Grady Hughes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Grady Hughes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Vincenzo Ward tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Weaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vincenzo Ward having to interfere. Phoenix AFC played a much better game than Madawaska and deserved their victory. The Madawaska players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
