Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Graham Velasquez started the match with the kick off. When South Gate's Graham Velasquez, in the 4th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for South Gate. 6 minutes into the match, Sheldon Salazar notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Willimantic's Tommy Livingston. Tommy Livingston was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tommy Livingston didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when South Gate's Graham Velasquez shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-2 in the ordered_time% minute. Sheldon Salazar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Livingston having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Willimantic's Wesley Harper got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 25thth minute of the game Sheldon Salazar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Willimantic's Tommy Livingston was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Sheldon Salazar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, South Gate's Sheldon Salazar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Livingston narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Willimantic's Tommy Livingston played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sheldon Salazar in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graham Velasquez in the 32nd minute of play forced Willimantic's goalkeeper Tommy Livingston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sheldon Salazar in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Livingston saved Willimantic from getting behind. In the 35th match minute, Willimantic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dale Cates to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Willimantic defense, Graham Velasquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tommy Livingston. The Willimantic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Livingston should have stopped the shot. 39 minutes into the match, Sheldon Salazar notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Willimantic's Tommy Livingston. Tommy Livingston was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 43rd minute, Graham Velasquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The South Gate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Tommy Livingston came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by South Gate's Graham Velasquez. But to his dismay, Graham Velasquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andreas Garrett was the one to do the kick off. Tommy Livingston made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sheldon Salazar in the 57th minute. When Donnie Grier fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored South Gate's protests and gave Donnie Grier a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th match minute, South Gate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donnie Grier to maneuver through the defense. Robert Spencer was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 65th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Sheldon Salazar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Tommy Livingston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sheldon Salazar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Graham Velasquez took a quick shot and it went in 0-7 without a chance for Tommy Livingston to make any attempt to save it. Jonathan Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Garrett in the 84th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as South Gate's Graham Velasquez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tommy Livingston. That made the score 0-8 after 91 minutes of play. Graham Velasquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donnie Grier hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The Willimantic fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. South Gate were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
