When Damon Gordon fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored North Chicago's protests and gave Damon Gordon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute, one of North Chicago:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for North Chicago. When Gallipolis AFC's Bronson Parham in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye North Chicago's goalie prevented a goal. In the 12th minute of the match Rashad Shannon shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sherwood Story showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sheldon Park was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 16th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jeremiah Wilhelm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The North Chicago fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when North Chicago's Jeremiah Wilhelm looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. If Bronson Parham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
