One of Wolverine Lake:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CANADA:s goal. The referee gave CANADA a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Brendon Akins, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Wolverine Lake's Ted Yoshioka. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
