Spectators: 6713 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1713, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Genaro Luther got the match started through his kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gordon Burroughs in the 4th minute of play forced Shively AFC's goalkeeper Garrett Groves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roy Hopper showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Genaro Luther, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Gordon Burroughs took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Garrett Groves. Garrett Groves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Rupert Hurley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rupert Hurley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emerson Abbott in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Garrett Groves saved Shively AFC from getting behind. Gordon Burroughs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 33 minutes, Isidro Askew mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lake Sarasota and the Shively AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 33 played minutes Lake Sarasota got a freekick which was hit by Isidro Askew. Tony Madsen's late challenge caught a Shively AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tony Madsen helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Lake Sarasota getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Tony Madsen hit a great ball. Genaro Luther fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roy Hopper having to interfere. Roy Hopper was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Genaro Luther capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Genaro Luther really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Gordon Burroughs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Genaro Luther struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Roy Hopper didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shively AFC. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emerson Abbott made a kick off. When Monty Stanford fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lake Sarasota's protests and gave Monty Stanford a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Shively AFC booed when Lake Sarasota was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Monty Stanford didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lake Sarasota's zone, Rupert Hurley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roy Hopper came out of the goal and Rupert Hurley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keith Kendrick hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Gordon Burroughs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gordon Burroughs came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Lake Sarasota fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gordon Burroughs couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Gordon Burroughs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lake Sarasota's supporters rose to their feet, but Gordon Burroughs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garrett Groves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rupert Hurley in the 75th minute of play forced Lake Sarasota's goalkeeper Roy Hopper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 80 minutes, Gordon Burroughs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lake Sarasota's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gordon Burroughs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emerson Abbott in the 84th minute of play forced Shively AFC's goalkeeper Garrett Groves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rupert Hurley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roy Hopper having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Shively AFC's Rupert Hurley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roy Hopper narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Shively AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Lake Sarasota's performance. The match ended with a win for Lake Sarasota.
