Bill Cassidy came out of the goal and Gilberto Bentos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 22nd minute Luisito Urdaspal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Cassidy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Fernando Manning had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ismael Allred. Atletico Madrid's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernando Manning was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The supporters of Atletico Madrid booed when Ridgefield FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dana Estrada didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Ridgefield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Bentos came free, but Bill Cassidy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute Gilberto Bentos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Cassidy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ridgefield FC's Bill Cassidy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto Bentos in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Luisito Urdaspal made a precise shot to the right of Bill Cassidy. Ridgefield FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. If Charlton Stanton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Eliseo Talbot made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Luisito Urdaspal dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bill Cassidy, 1-3. Eliseo Talbot took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ismael Allred. Ismael Allred dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willard Glover in the 72nd minute of play forced Atletico Madrid's goalkeeper Ismael Allred to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Curtis Stahl in the 74th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Atletico Madrid's Carson Knight. After a defensive mix-up in Ridgefield FC's zone, Gilberto Bentos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bill Cassidy came out of the goal and Gilberto Bentos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Ridgefield FC getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Santos Nolan hit a great ball. In the 89th play minute Gilberto Bentos came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Bill Cassidy. 2-4. If Fernando Manning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Atletico Madrid could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ridgefield FC throughout the match.
