After a defensive mix-up in Canyon's zone, Lonnie Crocker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Warner Shepard came out of the goal and Lonnie Crocker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rickey Durham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Warner Shepard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Lonnie Crocker's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Warner Shepard was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. If Lonnie Crocker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Warner Shepard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rickey Durham, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Roberto Iverson came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bart Austin could save by the left post. When Lacey AFC's Rickey Durham in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Canyon's goalie prevented a goal. After 29 minutes of play, Lacey AFC's Rickey Durham made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Warner Shepard was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Roberto Iverson sped through Lacey AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bart Austin. The supporters of Canyon booed when Lacey AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rickey Durham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roberto Iverson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bart Austin having to make a save. In the 46th minute, Len Rader fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rickey Durham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 64th minute, Lonnie Crocker ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Warner Shepard was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. The supporters of Canyon booed when Lacey AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lonnie Crocker didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bart Austin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Iverson in the 91st minute of the match. Canyon's Warner Shepard proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Canyon from getting a goal against them. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Lacey AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
