Metuchen's Tyler Hurley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnnie McCullough in the 8th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Clanton AFC's zone, Jesse Gill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kent Mahoney came out of the goal and Jesse Gill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jesse Gill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kent Mahoney read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Santiago Wagner hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Jesse Gill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 27 played minutes Clanton AFC got a freekick which was hit by Raul Cramer. Ismael Whitt came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Kent Mahoney could save by the left post. Kent Mahoney was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jesse Gill showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. Jesse Gill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kent Mahoney having to interfere. Ismael Whitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kent Mahoney having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Johnnie McCullough made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stanford Katz during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 51st minute, Stanford Katz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rob Gauthier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Kent Mahoney tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jesse Gill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clanton AFC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Metuchen had controlled the match.
