Wilbert Hathaway lost his temper 31 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. If Leroy Irwin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kalaheo FC's Rosario Friedman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Kalaheo FC from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Rick Mock got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 67th minute Rick Mock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar LeBlanc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Leroy Reece fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kalaheo FC's protests and gave Leroy Reece a yellow card for diving instead.
