The audience thought a goal was coming when Candido Telmo got free with Denver Doyle in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steve Weller blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Steven MacDonald having to make a save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Candido Telmo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Bob Crawford came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Q Hunter fans jumped to their feet.
