Seating: 1712, VIP seats: 148) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gregorio Payne kicked off to start the match. Loren Strange showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rex Byrne in the 4th minute of the match. Rex Byrne scored 0-1 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Loren Strange, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Cuero AFC booed when Amite City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregorio Payne didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rex Byrne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Loren Strange tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 16 minutes, Young Iverson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cuero AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Young Iverson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dennis Parrish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Cuero AFC's Johnny Jennings got control of the ball when Gregorio Payne tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 45th match minute, Amite City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rod Smalls to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rex Byrne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Rod Smalls got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 53 minutes into the match, Cuero AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Parrish came free, but Johnny Jennings reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rex Byrne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Gregorio Payne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rex Byrne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Loren Strange tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rex Byrne in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Loren Strange prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 79 played minutes Amite City got a freekick which was hit by Rod Smalls. Loren Strange made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Willie Cain sent off a good shot on target. The long shot by Eusebio Tinsley in the 84th minute really tested Loren Strange's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Loren Strange showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rex Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Loren Strange was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Romeo Spence. After some careless play in the Amite City defense, Willie Cain kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Loren Strange. The Amite City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Loren Strange should have stopped the shot. After having played for 93 minutes, Dennis Parrish managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Amite City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dennis Parrish was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
