A collision led to Dundalk FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Percy Kimbrough hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Alberto McMullen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dundalk FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto McMullen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Austin Tanner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Percy Kimbrough's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Austin Tanner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Dundalk FC's Waldo Bautista got a free kick in the 41st minute. After having played for 42 minutes, Lane Vasquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newnan AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lane Vasquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Titus Ybarra in the 44th minute of play forced Dundalk FC's goalkeeper Jermaine Bradshaw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Titus Ybarra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jermaine Bradshaw having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Titus Ybarra made a kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Titus Ybarra lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Jermaine Bradshaw. Jermaine Bradshaw made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Titus Ybarra in the 60th minute of play. If Titus Ybarra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Titus Ybarra in the 63rd minute of play forced Dundalk FC's goalkeeper Jermaine Bradshaw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Danny Burgos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Percy Kimbrough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Alberto McMullen put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Austin Tanner. Percy Kimbrough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Austin Tanner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lane Vasquez got free with Jermaine Bradshaw in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
