Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Graham Thayer kicked off to start the match. In the 6th minute, Tyler Blevins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 7 minutes, Rory Berg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mendenhall AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rory Berg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Young Engel struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Wilbert Horton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mendenhall AFC. Lane Wiley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graham Thayer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wes Floyd who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Lane Wiley when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Malcolm Davenport's late challenge caught a Mendenhall AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Malcolm Davenport helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th minute, one of Morehead City AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Morehead City AFC. Wilbert Horton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Young Engel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Young Engel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Wilbert Horton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Mendenhall AFC's goalkeeper Lane Wiley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tyler Blevins. In the 33rd minute Young Engel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilbert Horton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lane Wiley stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Graham Thayer's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. After 39 played minutes Morehead City AFC got a freekick which was hit by Graham Thayer. Graham Thayer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lane Wiley having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Tyler Blevins left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Morehead City AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mendenhall AFC's Lane Wiley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graham Thayer in the 48th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Young Engel made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Mendenhall AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Graham Thayer came free, but Lane Wiley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 56 minutes of play, Morehead City AFC's Tyler Blevins made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lane Wiley was left in no man's land by his defense there! Young Engel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilbert Horton having to interfere. If Graham Thayer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rory Berg might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilbert Horton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rory Berg ran back to his position shaking his head. Geoff Mayo kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Luke Dye hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Graham Thayer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute, Tyler Blevins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
