Spectators: 6713 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1713, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Curt Matthews took the kick off in the first half of the match. Zionsville's Ramon Morin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Zionsville from getting a goal against them. After 7 played minutes Alpena got a freekick which was hit by Randy Crouch. Curt Matthews blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dirk Green having to make a save. Zionsville's Weston Sito got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dirk Green showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Curt Matthews in the 13th minute of the match. Dirk Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt Matthews in the 20th minute of play. When Zionsville's Curt Matthews in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alpena's goalie prevented a goal. Weston Sito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dirk Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt Matthews in the 26th minute of play. In the 30th minute of the match Kerry Watson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ramon Morin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dirk Green made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curt Matthews in the 32nd minute of play. If Curt Matthews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Curt Matthews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, Curt Matthews got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Curt Matthews received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Dirk Green tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Rusty Carmichael fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramon Morin having to interfere. Calvin Squires kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Weston Sito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dirk Green having to interfere. Curt Matthews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dirk Green made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Weston Sito sent off a good shot on target. Ramon Morin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rico Wesley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alpena's Rico Wesley got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 75 minutes into the match, Alpena's goal looked a bit too open when Curt Matthews came free, but Dirk Green reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alpena's Dirk Green played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Curt Matthews in the 76th minute of play. Curt Matthews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 played minutes Alpena got a freekick which was hit by Lanny Frey. The audience thought a goal was coming when Weston Sito got free with Dirk Green in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute, Zionsville's Curt Matthews ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dirk Green. Dirk Green yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. If Rusty Carmichael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zionsville's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
