Sleepy Eye
Spectators: 6723 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1723, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Renato Gregory took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Stefan Poe came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Southmen United AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stefan Poe couldn't finish the play. 7 minutes into the game, Stefan Poe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sandy Cote was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 11th minute, Stefan Poe ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sandy Cote was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After having played for 20 minutes, Stefan Poe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Southmen United AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stefan Poe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Waldo Kinsey during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Sleepy Eye AFC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Waldo Kinsey hit a great ball. Stefan Poe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Sandy Cote tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stefan Poe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandy Cote having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Sleepy Eye AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Stefan Poe came free, but Sandy Cote reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandy Cote came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Southmen United AFC's Stefan Poe. But to his dismay, Stefan Poe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Sleepy Eye AFC's Sandy Cote played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stefan Poe in the 40th minute of play. In the 41st minute Stefan Poe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandy Cote saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stefan Poe took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sandy Cote. Sandy Cote dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stefan Poe to make the kick off. Mitchell Fay kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Southmen United AFC's Stefan Poe got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sandy Cote made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Poe in the 63rd minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Stefan Poe dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sandy Cote, 0-8. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Poe got free with Sandy Cote in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 79thth minute of the game Stefan Poe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sleepy Eye AFC's Sandy Cote was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Sleepy Eye AFC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Renato Gregory hit a great ball. 90 minutes into the game, Stefan Poe recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sandy Cote. Stefan Poe showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-10. In the 93rd match minute, Southmen United AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Domingo Kennedy to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darius McLaughlin in the 96th minute of play forced Southmen United AFC's goalkeeper Allen Luna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Southmen United AFC defense, Sid Downs kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Allen Luna. The Southmen United AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Allen Luna should have stopped the shot. The Sleepy Eye AFC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Southmen United AFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
