In the 16th minute, Angelo Ingram hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 20 played minutes Laurium got a freekick which was hit by Angelo Ingram. 21 minutes into the game, Imperial Beach AFC's Kris Green nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bronson Corey made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 26th minute Jeramy Esposito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Clifford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Clifford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richie Ladner, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The audience was convinced that Richie Ladner's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fred Clifford was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. A collision led to Imperial Beach AFC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Salvatore Emery hit a great ball. Jeramy Esposito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Clifford having to interfere. Fred Clifford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richie Ladner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fred Clifford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brice Richmond to make the kick off. Fred Clifford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richie Ladner, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Fred Clifford was a little too slow when Richie Ladner got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 2-1. Brice Richmond might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bronson Corey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brice Richmond ran back to his position shaking his head. 68 minutes into the match, Laurium's goal looked a bit too open when Brice Richmond came free, but Bronson Corey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th match minute, Laurium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Joseph to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute Richie Ladner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fred Clifford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee gave Imperial Beach AFC a penalty, 76 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Darron Means, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Laurium's Bronson Corey. 3-1. Richie Ladner dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Fred Clifford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richie Ladner in the 96th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Imperial Beach AFC had won after a very even match.
