If Cristobal Mansfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loren Lane in the 23rd minute of play forced Mangoala's goalkeeper Al Crane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mangoala's zone, Loren Lane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Al Crane came out of the goal and Loren Lane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Mangoala defense, Len Beatty kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Al Crane. The Mangoala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Al Crane should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Mangoala's Rob Curran got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Len Beatty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Al Crane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Len Beatty's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Al Crane read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Will Brooks kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Mangoala's zone, Loren Lane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The wind increased when Len Beatty made the kick off in the second half. Mangoala's Al Crane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Len Beatty in the 56th minute of play. Len Beatty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Crane having to interfere. Len Beatty blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Al Crane having to make a save. When Will Brooks fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mangoala's protests and gave Will Brooks a yellow card for diving instead. If Loren Lane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Mangoala got a freekick which was hit by Diego Houston. With splendid footwork Len Beatty arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-3 by the left pole in the game's 94th minute. When the match was over Detroit Lakes could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Mangoala throughout the match.
