North Attleborough's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Columbus Crew SC the free kick. Foster Savage received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Ed Leonard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. North Attleborough's Ed Leonard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Foster Savage in the 8th minute of play. In the 11th minute J.C. Hays shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hank Felton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dawid Brzonkala kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. If J.C. Hays had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ed Leonard stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damien Park's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Ed Leonard didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Damien Park went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Dawid Brzonkala hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Gerry Woodard managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Attleborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerry Woodard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hank Felton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hank Felton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from J.C. Hays, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. North Attleborough's Ed Leonard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Foster Savage in the 37th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Foster Savage's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ed Leonard was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Damien Park fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ed Leonard having to interfere.

The wind increased when Foster Savage made the kick off in the second half. If Gerry Woodard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute Foster Savage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ed Leonard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damien Park received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Ed Leonard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Columbus Crew SC's Foster Savage slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ed Leonard. That made the score 0-3 after 69 minutes of play. Damien Park sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Foster Savage in the 77th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Ed Leonard kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-4 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Damien Park came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ed Leonard could save by the left post. 89 minutes into the match, Léo León dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ed Leonard, 0-6. Léo León could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Ed Leonard made a huge save. Columbus Crew SC played a much better game than North Attleborough and deserved their victory. The North Attleborough players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
