THE RIG
Spectators: 6994 (Terracing: 5644,
Seating: 1300, VIP seats: 50) Ferdinand Romano made the kick off and thus started the match. Darrel Countess hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Donald Cano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abraham Craven having to interfere. Lone Grove's Abraham Craven proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Lone Grove from getting a goal against them. Abraham Craven was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Stevie Daniels showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. After 18 minutes of play, PETROLEUM's Stevie Daniels made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Abraham Craven was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mitchell Floyd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darrel Countess in the 21st minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Donald Cano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PETROLEUM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lone Grove the free kick. In the 25th minute of the match Stacey Hobson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mitchell Floyd showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mitchell Floyd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darrel Countess, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. When Jarod Woodward fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lone Grove's protests and gave Jarod Woodward a yellow card for diving instead. Jarod Woodward hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Stevie Daniels sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Craig Morse took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mitchell Floyd. PETROLEUM's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rolando Kenny during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Lone Grove's Rolando Kenny got a free kick in the 38th minute. With a little luck, Lone Grove's Abraham Craven got control of the ball when Stevie Daniels tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Darrel Countess had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mitchell Floyd didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adolfo Emery went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. In the 48thth minute of the game Darrel Countess who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PETROLEUM's Mitchell Floyd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adolfo Emery made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Stevie Daniels had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abraham Craven. Lone Grove's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stevie Daniels was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Stevie Daniels managed to get in a good position for a shot. PETROLEUM's supporters rose to their feet, but Stevie Daniels was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abraham Craven breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 62 minutes, Adolfo Emery managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lone Grove's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Emery was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Darrel Countess scored 4-2 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mitchell Floyd, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Darrel Countess sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Stevie Daniels managed to get in a good position for a shot. PETROLEUM's supporters rose to their feet, but Stevie Daniels was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abraham Craven breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Lone Grove getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Son Lane hit a great ball. Stevie Daniels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Abraham Craven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Darrel Countess could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Mitchell Floyd made a huge save. The PETROLEUM fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lone Grove had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
