Rob Egan charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rob Egan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 5 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Staples AFC! The goalkeeper, Eusebio Terrell, was totally fooled by Tijuana FC's Wade Carbajal, who 7 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 9 played minutes Staples AFC got a freekick which was hit by Oren Herring. Eusebio Terrell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Sharp, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 12 minutes of play Staples AFC's Rob Egan was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 12 minutes into the game, one of Staples AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Tijuana FC a penalty, 14 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Wade Carbajal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Staples AFC's Eusebio Terrell. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Sharp in the 20th minute of play forced Staples AFC's goalkeeper Eusebio Terrell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daren Lim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 32 played minutes Tijuana FC got a freekick which was hit by Del Herget. Mario Sharp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusebio Terrell having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Stanton Barney ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jeremy Nava was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Jerry Story hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Eusebio Terrell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mario Sharp in the 53rd minute of play. Staples AFC's Stanton Barney suffered a fractured collar bone after 54 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 54 minutes, Wade Carbajal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tijuana FC and the Staples AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tijuana FC's Wade Carbajal got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Sharp in the 57th minute of play forced Staples AFC's goalkeeper Eusebio Terrell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aldo Lozano struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Jeremy Nava didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Staples AFC. After having played for 61 minutes, Aldo Lozano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Staples AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aldo Lozano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eusebio Terrell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daren Lim, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 65th match minute, Staples AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oren Herring to maneuver through the defense. Tijuana FC's Daren Lim got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Tijuana FC's Jerry Story in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Staples AFC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 73rd minute, Douglass Goodwin reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jeremy Nava. The goal made the score 2-2. In the 82nd minute, Daren Lim made a precise shot to the right of Eusebio Terrell. Staples AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. In the 86th match minute, Tijuana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerry Story to maneuver through the defense. Oren Herring fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremy Nava having to interfere. After having played for 94 minutes, Mario Sharp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
