After 13 played minutes West Palm Beach FC got a freekick which was hit by Ben Rossi. West Palm Beach FC's Jake Reaves got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in West Palm Beach FC's zone, Stanton Barney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shannon Groves came out of the goal and Stanton Barney tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Shannon Groves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ted Dempsey in the 23rd minute of play. Stanton Barney could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Shannon Groves made a huge save. In the 27th minute, Sterling Roark got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sidney McNeil kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. If Sterling Roark had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stanton Barney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shannon Groves having to interfere. After 35 minutes, Duncan Groves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the West Palm Beach FC and the Staples AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Shannon Groves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, West Palm Beach FC's Deshawn Alden got a free kick in the 37th minute. When Douglass Goodwin fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Staples AFC's protests and gave Douglass Goodwin a yellow card for diving instead. Douglass Goodwin hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jake Reaves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Jake Reaves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eusebio Terrell was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
