In the 41st minute, Jasper Hanson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Alpena's Ivan Fairchild got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After having played for 45 minutes, German Christopher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Roodhouse's supporters crossed their fingers, but German Christopher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Rodrigo Hightower was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alpena were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Roodhouse's much stronger midfield.
