After 39 minutes, Jed Spaulding mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico Madrid and the Wenatchee FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Atletico Madrid getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Jed Spaulding hit a great ball. Werner Carrillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Russ Penn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Rudy Daniels kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 75thth minute of the game Arnold Valentin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico Madrid's Russ Penn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Arnold Valentin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darryl Goodson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Sam Bennett made a huge save. Atletico Madrid's Russ Penn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnold Valentin in the 81st minute of play. After 82 played minutes Atletico Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Connelly. Russ Penn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnold Valentin, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. When the final whistle went the supporters of Atletico Madrid were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Wenatchee FC side.
