Josh Barnhart showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clint Mason in the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Ronnie Cesario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josh Barnhart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 46 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Ronnie Cesario sped through Hemet AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Josh Barnhart. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ronnie Cesario was the one to do the kick off. Hemet AFC's Otis Crabtree got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Clint Mason sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Josh Barnhart prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pedro Simons kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Clint Mason in the 70thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Josh Barnhart, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ronnie Cesario received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Josh Barnhart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Real SoCal's supporters rose to their feet, but Clint Mason was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Josh Barnhart breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
