In the 16th minute Jesus Hawthorne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reyes Fry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Austin Franklin could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Lionel Busby however easily saved by the left post. If Stacy Hollandsworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stacy Hollandsworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Lionel Busby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Rigoberto Goddard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nikiski FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rigoberto Goddard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reyes Fry breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Babcock got free with Lionel Busby in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Jesus Hawthorne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stacy Hollandsworth was the one to do the kick off.
