River Oaks
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Brock Jolly kicked off to start the match. Brock Jolly scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnold Cates, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 9th minute Brock Jolly shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Cates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dillon McGrath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Josiah Haines tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Brock Jolly got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arnold Cates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cory Hobson, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute, Brock Jolly made a precise shot to the right of Arnold Cates. River Oaks's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in River Oaks's zone, Jerrod Keen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnold Cates came out of the goal and Jerrod Keen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arnold Cates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerardo Jorgensen, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A throw-in in the 27th minute of the game was made by Sal Friend with Chuck Murry as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 31st minute, Brock Jolly got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Chuck Murry could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Josiah Haines made a huge save. A collision led to Eatontown getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Thomas Calloway hit a great ball. Darin Lowery tried in the 40th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Josiah Haines a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-2. Arnold Cates took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Jorgensen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
Dillon McGrath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Josiah Haines tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brock Jolly got free with Arnold Cates in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A sloppy throw-in by Tory Kessler in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Eatontown's Thomas Calloway. Brock Jolly sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dillon McGrath struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Josiah Haines didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Oaks. Gerardo Jorgensen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Arnold Cates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dillon McGrath kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Sal Friend made in the 77th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Eatontown's D.J. Trent. 79 minutes into the game, Otis Chappelle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. River Oaks's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Eatontown the free kick. The supporters of Eatontown booed when River Oaks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otis Chappelle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eatontown's Gerardo Jorgensen got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnold Cates made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Jorgensen in the 86th minute of play. Brock Jolly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnold Cates having to interfere. After 92 minutes, Sal Friend mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River Oaks and the Eatontown players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, River Oaks's Sal Friend got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Sterling Loomis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The River Oaks fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Eatontown were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
