The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 23rd minute, Santiago Curtis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 27 minutes, Jonah DeJesus mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FIORENTINA and the Paynesville AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Paynesville AFC booed when FIORENTINA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonah DeJesus didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute Jack Clement shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cody Redd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jack Clement came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the FIORENTINA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jack Clement couldn't finish the play. Maurice Ewing made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Holder in the 35th minute of play. If Jack Clement had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Desmond Lloyd kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. When Adrian Holder fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paynesville AFC's protests and gave Adrian Holder a yellow card for diving instead. In the 48th match minute, Paynesville AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Holder to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adrian Holder to strike the kick off in the second half. Santiago Curtis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurice Ewing having to interfere. Zachariah Thayer's late challenge caught a Paynesville AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zachariah Thayer helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to FIORENTINA getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Zachariah Thayer hit a great ball. In the 92nd match minute, Paynesville AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Murray Rowell to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th minute, Jack Clement got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paynesville AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
