Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rolf Spaulding started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes, Yong Frederick mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the South Plainfield and the East Merrimack AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Yong Frederick kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, East Merrimack AFC's Rodolfo Shipman got a free kick in the 8th minute. Rolf Spaulding received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Bobby Decker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Dan Quintana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Dan Quintana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Teddy Ames received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Bart Walton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. East Merrimack AFC's Bobby Decker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rolf Spaulding in the 29th minute of play. With a little luck, East Merrimack AFC's Bobby Decker got control of the ball when Dan Quintana tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute, Rex Dennison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Drew Kerns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in South Plainfield's zone, Denny Lowery stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bart Walton came out of the goal and Denny Lowery tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teddy Ames to make the kick off. After 50 played minutes South Plainfield got a freekick which was hit by Allan Vargas. Bart Walton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teddy Ames, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, South Plainfield's Dan Quintana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bobby Decker narrowly saved just below the crossbar. From a short distance, East Merrimack AFC's Teddy Ames, in the 63rd minute, tried to place the ball behind Bart Walton, but the ball hit the right post on the wrong side and went out. East Merrimack AFC's Bobby Decker played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dan Quintana in the 65th minute of play. Bobby Decker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dan Quintana, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Bobby Decker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolf Spaulding in the 70th minute of play. After some careless play in the East Merrimack AFC defense, Dan Quintana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bobby Decker. The East Merrimack AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bobby Decker should have stopped the shot. A collision led to East Merrimack AFC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Ian Johns hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dan Quintana in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bobby Decker prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jamar Barrera during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th match minute, South Plainfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Bolden to maneuver through the defense. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
