One couldn't see Sanford McKee behind all of his teammates who surrounded to congratulate him. Victor Stiles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lanny Byrne's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Terrence Pittman scored 2-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruben Tobin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute Lanny Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Stiles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lanny Byrne might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victor Stiles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Byrne ran back to his position shaking his head. Victor Stiles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lanny Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lakeway AFC's Everett Martinez got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 36th minute, Lanny Byrne made a precise shot to the right of Victor Stiles. Homerville FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 47 minutes into the match, Murray Maurer dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ruben Tobin, 3-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lanny Byrne was the one to do the kick off. Terrence Pittman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Tobin having to interfere. Homerville FC's Jerold Rainey got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 60 minutes, Terrence Pittman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Homerville FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Terrence Pittman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 61 minutes into the match, Phil Munson notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Lakeway AFC's Ruben Tobin. Ruben Tobin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Terrence Pittman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute.
