Manuel Ford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the game, Russ Wilder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Smithfield's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter Miami CF the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casey Powell in the 27th minute of play forced Inter Miami CF's goalkeeper Thaddeus Espinoza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thaddeus Espinoza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rickey Delgado in the 30th minute. In the 31st match minute, Inter Miami CF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Beard to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Russ Wilder in the 41st minute of play forced Inter Miami CF's goalkeeper Thaddeus Espinoza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thaddeus Espinoza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Powell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inter Miami CF's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Casey Powell scored to the left of an out of position Thaddeus Espinoza, making the score, 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rey Hearn to strike the kick off in the second half. Manuel Ford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basil Ham in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Russ Wilder in the 63rd minute of play forced Inter Miami CF's goalkeeper Thaddeus Espinoza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Inter Miami CF's Thaddeus Espinoza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Russ Wilder in the 65th minute of play. 66 minutes into the game, Smithfield's Rickey Delgado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thaddeus Espinoza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. If Casey Powell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sid Knox during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Smithfield's Sid Knox got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute Casey Powell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thaddeus Espinoza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rey Hearn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Ford having to interfere. In the 80th minute Casey Powell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thaddeus Espinoza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 81 minutes of play, Smithfield's Russ Wilder made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thaddeus Espinoza was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Russ Wilder put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Thaddeus Espinoza. In the 88th minute, Russ Wilder made a precise shot to the right of Thaddeus Espinoza. Inter Miami CF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. In the 91st minute, Casey Powell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rey Hearn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Ford having to interfere. In the 97th match minute, Inter Miami CF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asher Rodriquez to maneuver through the defense. Smithfield's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
