Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Gilbert's Jeremy Carnes started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy Carnes in the 3rd minute of play forced East Sandwich AFC's goalkeeper Sherman Ricks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Merrill Marks managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gilbert's supporters rose to their feet, but Merrill Marks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sherman Ricks breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 12 played minutes Gilbert got a freekick which was hit by Merrill Marks. After a defensive mix-up in Gilbert's zone, Ernie Barajas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Kerns came out of the goal and Ernie Barajas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the game, East Sandwich AFC's Ernie Barajas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matthew Kerns made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Matthew Kerns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien McDaniel in the 25th minute of play. Ernie Barajas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Matthew Kerns skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Merrill Marks might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sherman Ricks. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Merrill Marks ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute, Jefferson Stratton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Ernie Barajas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Lucien McDaniel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matthew Kerns was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernie Barajas to make the kick off. Lucien McDaniel got in the 51st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Matthew Kerns handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Merrill Marks during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 52 played minutes Gilbert got a freekick which was hit by Merrill Marks. In the 54thth minute of the game Ernie Barajas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gilbert's Matthew Kerns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Theodore Daley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ernie Barajas in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthew Kerns prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rupert Altman hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. The supporters of East Sandwich AFC booed when Gilbert was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Merrill Marks didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Gilbert was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jefferson Stratton to maneuver through the defense. If Lucien McDaniel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthew Kerns came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by East Sandwich AFC's Lucien McDaniel. But to his dismay, Lucien McDaniel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Winford Hess sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matthew Kerns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien McDaniel in the 93rd minute of play. Gilbert's Merrill Marks got his second yellow card of the match in the 94th minute. The referee ordered Merrill Marks off the ground. After a rather tough play, Gilbert's Merrill Marks got a free kick in the 95th minute. East Sandwich AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gilbert for a fine match.
