Brett Melendez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvin Ortiz having to interfere. If Brett Melendez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvin Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mason Bryant, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Brett Melendez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvin Ortiz. Citronelle FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brett Melendez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 26 minutes into the game, Lakehurst FC's Mason Bryant nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alvin Ortiz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. If Mason Bryant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvin Ortiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mason Bryant in the 31st minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Mason Bryant had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvin Ortiz. Citronelle FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mason Bryant was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. A collision led to Citronelle FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Alistair Andrews hit a great ball. After 39 played minutes Citronelle FC got a freekick which was hit by Mohammad Compton. In the 42nd minute, Marlin Acero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute, Brett Melendez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mohammad Compton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mickey Steiner came out and tried to block the shot, but Mohammad Compton slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 49th minute. The Citronelle FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lakehurst FC were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mohammad Compton to make the kick off. After 57 played minutes Citronelle FC got a freekick which was hit by Marlin Acero. Billy Maurer was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 58th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Lakehurst FC's Mason Bryant in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Citronelle FC's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 66 minutes, Brett Melendez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lakehurst FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brett Melendez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Lakehurst FC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Merle Silver hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, Citronelle FC's Louis Lloyd broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brett Melendez got free with Alvin Ortiz in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 79 minutes into the match, Citronelle FC's goalkeeper Alvin Ortiz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brett Melendez. Alvin Ortiz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brett Melendez in the 83rd minute. Brett Melendez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alvin Ortiz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mason Bryant's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lakehurst FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
