In the 12th play minute Hank Kimball came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Pierre Seymour. 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Kent Thomson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vivian's supporters rose to their feet, but Kent Thomson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Odell Butcher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Poulsbo FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Allan Schwartz hit a great ball. Tony Cordova might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Odell Butcher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tony Cordova ran back to his position shaking his head. Shelton Chung's late challenge caught a Vivian's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Shelton Chung helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes Poulsbo FC got a freekick which was hit by Shelton Chung. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poulsbo FC's goalkeeper Odell Butcher, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Poulsbo FC's zone, Kent Thomson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Odell Butcher came out of the goal and Kent Thomson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Tony Cordova had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the match, Kent Thomson notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Poulsbo FC's Odell Butcher. Odell Butcher was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 43 played minutes Poulsbo FC got a freekick which was hit by Troy Landis. Kent Thomson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Odell Butcher having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A collision led to Vivian getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Marlon Rodriquez hit a great ball. The supporters of Poulsbo FC booed when Vivian was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Warren Lloyd didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kent Thomson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Poulsbo FC's zone, Terry Heller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Odell Butcher came out of the goal and Terry Heller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Odell Butcher made an important save on a dangerous shot by Terry Heller in the 68th minute. After 71 played minutes Vivian got a freekick which was hit by Wilford Robertson. Vivian's Pierre Seymour played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hank Kimball in the 74th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Hank Kimball managed to get in a good position for a shot. Poulsbo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hank Kimball was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Troy Landis fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poulsbo FC's protests and gave Troy Landis a yellow card for diving instead. After 84 played minutes Poulsbo FC got a freekick which was hit by Troy Landis. If Hank Kimball had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shelton Chung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 95 minutes, Hank Kimball managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Poulsbo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hank Kimball was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
