With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jefferson Bassett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute Dana Cowan suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 21 minutes, Lewis Herron mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lumberton and the Yorktown Heights AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Elvis Hutchison sped through Lumberton's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jefferson Bassett. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the game, Elvis Hutchison lined in a short shot 4-0 behind a frustrated Jefferson Bassett. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elvis Hutchison stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Elvis Hutchison cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Jefferson Bassett was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Elvis Hutchison's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jefferson Bassett was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Lumberton's Jefferson Bassett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elvis Hutchison in the 81st minute of play. 82 minutes into the game, Sandy Platt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lumberton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yorktown Heights AFC the free kick. When Bret Regan fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yorktown Heights AFC's protests and gave Bret Regan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 83rd minute, Bret Regan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
