In the 4th minute, Christian Deaton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Woody Hinkle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Washburn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raul Washburn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Woody Hinkle having to interfere. After 17 minutes, Casey Hollingsworth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yoakum FC and the Vancouver FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Casey Hollingsworth hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodney Pace in the 25th minute of play forced Yoakum FC's goalkeeper Graham Pickens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Stephan Hickman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Woody Hinkle was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Woody Hinkle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Washburn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ed Nance kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 35th minute of the match Al Alston shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Woody Hinkle showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Raul Washburn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Woody Hinkle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raul Washburn, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Stephan Hickman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of Yoakum FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vancouver FC:s goal. Florian Hawthorne placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out!

The wind increased when Stephan Hickman made the kick off in the second half. Ruben Valentine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 59th minute Rodney Pace shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Graham Pickens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ruben Valentine, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 65 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Graham Pickens was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Graham Pickens came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Vancouver FC's Ruben Valentine. But to his dismay, Ruben Valentine quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 82nd minute Rodney Pace shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Graham Pickens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Stephan Hickman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yoakum FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stephan Hickman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Woody Hinkle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Woody Hinkle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephan Hickman in the 88th minute of play. In the 92nd match minute, Vancouver FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randell Swain to maneuver through the defense. Vancouver FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Yoakum FC for a fine match.
