The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of Charter Oak FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Frederick:s goal. Lawrence Bachman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bret Stephenson in the 15th minute of play. If Rigoberto Bruner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Frederick's zone, Art Karros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lawrence Bachman came out of the goal and Art Karros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexander Villalobos's late challenge caught a Charter Oak FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexander Villalobos helped the player get up and apologised. Art Karros might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lawrence Bachman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Art Karros ran back to his position shaking his head. The Charter Oak FC fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Charter Oak FC's Art Karros looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Theo Ludwig lost his temper 29 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 29 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Charter Oak FC! When the match had been going on for 31 minutes, Frederick's Daron Lozano got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Carson Herbert. Charter Oak FC's Bret Stephenson got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Paul Graves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kristopher Pierce to strike the kick off in the second half. When Daron Lozano fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Frederick's protests and gave Daron Lozano a yellow card for diving instead. After 53 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Frederick! The referee gave Charter Oak FC a penalty, 55 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gerardo Castle, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Frederick's Lawrence Bachman. 2-2. After a rather tough play, Charter Oak FC's Greg Pena got a free kick in the 58th minute. Carson Herbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rigoberto Bruner in the 61st minute of play. Bret Stephenson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lawrence Bachman having to make a save. In the 68th minute, Bret Stephenson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 70 played minutes Frederick got a freekick which was hit by Milton Hickman. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Gerardo Castle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Charter Oak FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerardo Castle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lawrence Bachman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 83rd minute, Bret Stephenson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 87 played minutes Frederick got a freekick which was hit by Lawrence Doyle. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Paul Graves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Charter Oak FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paul Graves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lawrence Bachman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kristopher Pierce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carson Herbert having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
