Channel Islands Beach's Matt Thornton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Channel Islands Beach from getting a goal against them. When Junior Atwood came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Channel Islands Beach fans jumped to their feet. Woody Lemon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfred Black having to interfere. Wilfred Black made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Junior Atwood in the 21st minute of play. Matt Thornton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shayne Ulrich in the 23rd minute of the match. Shayne Ulrich did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Matt Thornton 25 minutes into the match. If Shayne Ulrich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shayne Ulrich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shayne Ulrich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Thornton having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Channel Islands Beach's goalkeeper Matt Thornton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jospeh Crowley. After having played for 44 minutes, Shayne Ulrich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Iona AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shayne Ulrich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Channel Islands Beach's zone, Jospeh Crowley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matt Thornton came out of the goal and Jospeh Crowley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Channel Islands Beach's Matt Thornton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Channel Islands Beach from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Cary Judd's late challenge caught a Channel Islands Beach's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cary Judd helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st match minute, Iona AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cary Judd to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Junior Atwood got free with Wilfred Black in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 80th minute Shayne Ulrich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matt Thornton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Jospeh Crowley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Woody Lemon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matt Thornton came out of the goal and Shayne Ulrich tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jospeh Crowley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jospeh Crowley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Channel Islands Beach's zone, Jospeh Crowley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matt Thornton came out of the goal and Jospeh Crowley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Iona AFC fully deserved thier win.
