An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Hastings in the 14th minute of play forced USA STARS's goalkeeper Thanh Gibson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Ollie Negron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of USA STARS booed when Sunnyhill Heat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quinton Jarrett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rodrigo Becker to make the kick off. Sunnyhill Heat's Edgardo Hastings got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edgardo Hastings in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Thanh Gibson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Thanh Gibson made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Sung Rossi sent off a good shot on target. In the 68th minute, Edgardo Hastings left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sunnyhill Heat fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Quinton Jarrett was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 97th minute. Sunnyhill Heat's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Sunnyhill Heat's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
