After 16 minutes, Travis Cangiano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Topton and the Ridgefield AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Topton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Travis Cangiano to maneuver through the defense. Travis Cangiano got his second yellow card in the match during the 18th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Travis Cangiano hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Wilbert Aviles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregg Erickson having to interfere. Topton's Maurice Freeman got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 41 played minutes Ridgefield AFC got a freekick which was hit by Winston Ware. After having played for 43 minutes, Percy Riker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Topton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percy Riker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Josh Burke fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ridgefield AFC's protests and gave Josh Burke a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ridgefield AFC! Elliot Starks walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wilbert Aviles to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes, Ridgefield AFC's Josh Burke shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gregg Erickson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ridgefield AFC reached it. In the 56th minute of the match Elliot Starks sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jed Hough skillfully saved the ball. When Rolland Tripp was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 58 minutes had been played. Rolland Tripp hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Jed Hough made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Maurice Freeman sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Topton's Elliot Starks got a free kick in the 63rd minute. The audience held their breath when Rico Bowden in the 65th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Gregg Erickson's left hand side. 67 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Topton's Maurice Freeman fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Ronny Handy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Maurice Freemans short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Jed Hough to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Ridgefield AFC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Winston Ware hit a great ball. Maurice Freeman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Jed Hough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jed Hough made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maurice Freeman in the 83rd minute. A collision led to Ridgefield AFC getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Wilbert Aviles hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurice Freeman got free with Jed Hough in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jed Hough made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronny Handy in the 92nd minute. Many of Topton's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Topton may have spent more time on the ball, but Ridgefield AFC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
