A collision led to Sinaloa FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Allen Coyle hit a great ball. Bronson Kent made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jimmy Hartman in the 11th minute. Moises Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jasper Esparza in the 13th minute of the match. The supporters of Sinaloa FC booed when New Paltz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rey Carmichael didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute of the match Johnnie Altman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Moises Duarte showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. DeAngelo Givens might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Moises Duarte. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. DeAngelo Givens ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th minute Stephen Grier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bronson Kent saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jimmy Hartman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Bronson Kent made a huge save. Wilfredo Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ron Croft came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the New Paltz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ron Croft couldn't finish the play. Moises Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jasper Esparza in the 40th minute of play. Wilfredo Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Bronson Kent tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moises Duarte made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sinaloa FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
