Blake Kim showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Ramon Aldrich showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hal Temple, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Milton Higgins kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. The supporters of Wyckoff booed when Gardiner was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rex Gaston didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rich Mason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donny Vela in the 12th minute of the match. After 17 minutes of play, Wyckoff's Milton Higgins made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rich Mason was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ramon Aldrich made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Javier Sharpe sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Wyckoff's zone, Rex Gaston stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramon Aldrich came out of the goal and Rex Gaston tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nick Duncan might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rich Mason. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nick Duncan ran back to his position shaking his head. Ramon Aldrich made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rex Gaston in the 28th minute. After 29 minutes of play, Gardiner's Javier Sharpe made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ramon Aldrich was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Trenton Shepard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wyckoff's supporters rose to their feet, but Trenton Shepard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rich Mason breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Milton Higgins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Rich Mason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Trenton Shepard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Blake Kim to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 66th minute Blake Kim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramon Aldrich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gardiner's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Blair Payton in the 68th minute. Rich Mason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Milton Higgins in the 70th minute of the match. Ramon Aldrich made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javier Sharpe in the 71st minute of play. Rich Mason was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Milton Higgins showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 92 minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Gardiner could leave the field as winners, despite Wyckoff having more of the ball for most of the match.
