Darren Pulliam made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 21st match minute, Orion SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quinton Dumas to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Geoffrey Stoddard sped through Manitou Springs FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Darren Pulliam. In the 35th minute, one of Orion SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Orion SC. In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Manitou Springs FC. Benito Dalton stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Stevie Levy. 1-4. With a little luck, Orion SC's Stevie Levy got control of the ball when Joe Brewer tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Geoffrey Stoddard came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Orion SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geoffrey Stoddard couldn't finish the play. Raphael Levine might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Darren Pulliam. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raphael Levine ran back to his position shaking his head. When Geoffrey Stoddard came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Orion SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geoffrey Stoddard couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Donovan Washburn to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Orion SC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Geoffrey Stoddard hit a great ball. Perry Small struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Darren Pulliam didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Orion SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Perry Small was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 1-5 became the score in the 60th minute when Perry Small elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Asher Cooke kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Stevie Levy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xavier Mims went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Xavier Mims managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manitou Springs FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Xavier Mims was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stevie Levy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 74th minute, Theron Boles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darren Pulliam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geoffrey Stoddard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Darren Pulliam made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Perry Small sent off a good shot on target. In the 89th minute, Orion SC's Geoffrey Stoddard dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-6. Donovan Washburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raphael Levine's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Darren Pulliam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. When the match was over Orion SC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Manitou Springs FC throughout the match.
