The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Brookhaven's Renato Altman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oswaldo Hopkins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Brookhaven's zone, Byron Spence stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Titus Brandt came out of the goal and Byron Spence tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brookhaven's Titus Brandt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Byron Spence in the 6th minute of play. Titus Brandt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Byron Spence, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 10 minutes, Basil Moon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brookhaven and the Raritan players grew even worse after the yellow card. Basil Moon kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Brookhaven's Philip Ezell got a free kick in the 13th minute. The audience was convinced that Peter Kurtz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Titus Brandt was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. After 29 minutes of play Brookhaven's Basil Moon was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Brookhaven getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Basil Moon hit a great ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jack Darby made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Brookhaven's zone, Wilber Izturis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat.
