Seating: 1814, VIP seats: 157) Marcellus Cross started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the match, Center Line's goalkeeper Joe Elmore had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristobal Parnell. After 6 minutes, Jorge Sheets mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Center Line and the Connecticut FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th minute, Jorge Sheets hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joe Elmore was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Martin Frederick showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. Connecticut FC's Shayne Herrera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarvis Dobbs in the 19th minute of play. Perry Bradshaw kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Connecticut FC's Rodrigo Wooten seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rodrigo Wooten the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Connecticut FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rodrigo Wooten had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a defensive mix-up in Connecticut FC's zone, Jarvis Dobbs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shayne Herrera came out of the goal and Jarvis Dobbs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jarvis Dobbs struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Shayne Herrera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Center Line. In the 35th minute Martin Holcomb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shayne Herrera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Martin Holcomb made a precise shot to the right of Shayne Herrera. Connecticut FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. If Jarvis Dobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Martin Frederick fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Martin Holcomb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Shayne Herrera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jarvis Dobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martin Holcomb was the one to do the kick off. Jorge Sheets was shown his second yellow card after 55 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 55 played minutes Center Line got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sheets. 57 minutes into the game, Martin Frederick cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Joe Elmore was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 69th minute Center Line were awarded a corner. Douglas Whittington went to the cornerflag to take it. After 74 minutes of play, Connecticut FC's Martin Frederick made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joe Elmore was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 78th minute Martin Frederick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joe Elmore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bo Byers during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st match minute, Connecticut FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bo Byers to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Center Line's Jarvis Dobbs got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timmy Cochran in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Shayne Herrera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Connecticut FC's Marcellus Cross got a free kick in the 86th minute. Connecticut FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
