An unexpectedly hard shot by Dirk Libby in the 11th minute of play forced Foster City's goalkeeper Marcos English to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ed McLeod's late challenge caught a Wafflemen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ed McLeod helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Wafflemen FC booed when Foster City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ed McLeod didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcos English stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rhett Agostino's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Saul Tidwell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alonzo Clay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rhett Agostino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Foster City's Alonzo Clay, in the 81st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Foster City. Wafflemen FC's Saul Tidwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alonzo Clay in the 83rd minute of play. Emmitt Cuevas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saul Tidwell having to interfere. After some careless play in the Wafflemen FC defense, Emmitt Cuevas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Saul Tidwell. The Wafflemen FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Saul Tidwell should have stopped the shot. The Foster City players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
