The crowd rose to their feet as Brant Merritt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lawrence Robinson. That made the score 2-0 in the 17 minute of play. Tad Stiles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Asher Russell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Team Whiskey's Lawrence Robinson got control of the ball when A.J. Rubin tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Brant Merritt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ethan Petersen fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Team Whiskey's protests and gave Ethan Petersen a yellow card for diving instead. Ethan Petersen kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Brant Merritt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brant Merritt might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lawrence Robinson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brant Merritt ran back to his position shaking his head. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brant Merritt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Brant Merritt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A.J. Rubin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Lawrence Robinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mario Winston's late challenge caught a Azzurri's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mario Winston helped the player get up and apologised. After 59 played minutes Team Whiskey got a freekick which was hit by Mario Winston. In the 65th minute Robert Courtney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Robinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Octavio Grant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lawrence Robinson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from A.J. Rubin in the 75th minute of play. Octavio Grant received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Tad Stiles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, A.J. Rubin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ethan Petersen hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Team Whiskey's Ward Crandall got a free kick in the 90th minute. When the referee ended the match the Azzurri players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
