The audience was convinced that Milton McNally's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henry Calderwood was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Malcolm Sumner managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chicago Fisher Cats's supporters rose to their feet, but Malcolm Sumner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Desmond Loomis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Chicago Fisher Cats. When Cedric Greene came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the St. Petersburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cedric Greene couldn't finish the play. Henry Calderwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cedric Greene in the 43rd minute of play. A collision led to Chicago Fisher Cats getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Danny Chappelle hit a great ball. Milton McNally received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Henry Calderwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Henry Calderwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Milton McNally, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Malcolm Sumner in the 59th minute of play forced St. Petersburg's goalkeeper Desmond Loomis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Chicago Fisher Cats booed when St. Petersburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Odell Lozano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alonzo Travis kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, St. Petersburg's Odell Lozano got a free kick in the 65th minute. Henry Calderwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Milton McNally, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Malcolm Sumner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of St. Petersburg booed when Chicago Fisher Cats was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Chappelle didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Milton McNally managed to get in a good position for a shot. St. Petersburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Milton McNally was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henry Calderwood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 96 minutes, Cedric Greene managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. St. Petersburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cedric Greene was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Chicago Fisher Cats support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
