Graig Watson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Francesco Blum made a huge save. Francesco Blum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Korey Lucas in the 9th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Graig Watson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jennings AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Asheville FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Jennings AFC's Graig Watson got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute, Graig Watson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Korey Lucas in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francesco Blum saved Asheville FC from getting behind. In the 16th match minute, Jennings AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genaro Locke to maneuver through the defense. Asheville FC's Joaquin Contreras got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 19 minutes of play Jennings AFC's Graig Watson was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquin Contreras in the 26th minute of play forced Jennings AFC's goalkeeper Brock Ochoa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Asheville FC's Joaquin Contreras in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jennings AFC's goalie prevented a goal. If Jacques Bowden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genaro Locke in the 37th minute of play forced Asheville FC's goalkeeper Francesco Blum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquin Contreras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brock Ochoa having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Tracy Corona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francesco Blum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Korey Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 46 minutes, Tracy Corona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jennings AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tracy Corona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of Jennings AFC booed when Asheville FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boyce Acevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Asheville FC's zone, Korey Lucas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francesco Blum came out of the goal and Korey Lucas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Korey Lucas in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francesco Blum saved Asheville FC from getting behind. Francesco Blum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Korey Lucas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Korey Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Francesco Blum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Asheville FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Trevor MacMillan hit a great ball. If Luke Stephenson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Korey Lucas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Francesco Blum having to make a save. Jennings AFC's Korey Lucas got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 90thth minute of the game Tracy Corona who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Asheville FC's Francesco Blum was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 94th minute, Luke Stephenson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Asheville FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When the final whistle went the supporters of Asheville FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Jennings AFC side.
